Custom Plantings

Nothing makes us happier than filling a customer's car with custom designed planters!

This is a service many of you may not know we provide...you drop off your planters in April, we design and plant, you pick up a beautiful planter the end of May.

The planters have our attention while settling in and growing strong and you have a low maintenance masterpiece.

Interested? Please inquire next time you visit the shoppe.

We have been receiving many calls asking if Water Lettuce and Hyacinth are in, and absolutely they are!

We are open during the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

Friday - 10a-6p
Saturday - Always Closed
Sunday - 10a - 5p
Monday 10a-3p

Spring, Annuals & Cold Temperatures

Didn't the 80 degree temperatures make you anxious to plant tender annuals.
But, what do we do now that the temps are predicted close to frost several times this week.

My suggestion, do not fall prey to the "big box" stores that encourage you to buy annuals and perennials out of season.
Tender blooming plants are harmed when going from a warm tropic like greenhouse to outside in our "spring" weather.
Plants need to be "hardened off", gradually strengthen to bright sunlight, winds and falling night temps. ( Predicted lows 37 this week )

While the plants may look fine and survive this brutal exposure they are also more prone to disease.

At Green Wellies we have delayed our first shipment of tender plants until the end of this week, so we can provide the healthiest plants and ensure your gardening success.

In the meantime stop in a browse all the new merchandise inside, we have the heat on.

Spring 2017 Opening

I say it every year, as most of you do, I am ready for spring.

As soon as the Spring Migration begins and I hear the calls of the spring birds, the urge to get outside and work in the earth is intense.

Were you out cleaning perennial beds during the annual short warmup in March, I was and am certainly plotting and planning new plantings

The Spring Peepers were out earlier than I have ever recorded, and makes me wonder once again the impact of Global Warming.

This last weekend's temperature leafed out the lilacs and the narcissus and other spring bulbs are blooming, so I guess I had better post our opening date.

Green Wellies is proud to open for our 20th year!
