Greenhouse Save

Greenhouses and heavy snowfall are just not a great combination.
Sunday and this morning were spent shoveling off the sides of the greenhouses.

Most winters we have breaks in the snowfall with some sunshine, which warms the snow enough that it slips off of the house.
With this last week's snowfall and record cold what we have is a mountain of snow wanting to collapse the house.

Carharts were donned and shovels employed and greenhouses saved.

Now I can't wait until they are filled with blooming annuals!

Winter Storms

During winter storms it is very important to check your winter water garden.
1. Ensure that your heater is keeping a hole open in the ice.
2. Double check that ice damns have not formed on your waterfalls.
3. Check all lines of aerating pumps.

Be thankful for all the snow cover for it acts as a big insulation blanket.
